MAXIS Global Benefits Network (MAXIS GBN), the international employee benefits joint venture between MetLife and AXA, has opened the online registration for its inaugural MAXIS Hackathon, a key event in its pioneering Data & Digital Innovation Lab activities.

The event, taking place on 7 November 2018, will bring together data analysts, web developers, insurance professionals, entrepreneurs and MAXIS’ own experts, to explore new ideas, tools and solutions for the global employee benefits market. The event will see teams combine their creativity and expertise, developing solutions for key challenges facing multinational companies requiring global insurance and employee benefits solutions.

The event will see participants divided into teams to address three key challenges:

  1. Many multinationals offer group life, medical, disability and accident insurance to their employees to both reward and retain them. What digital services and tools could make these types of benefits more flexible and visible to staff, ensuring they remain valued and attractive for millennials and younger generations of workers?
  2. How can data from insurance claims help multinational employers understand usage, key issues and risks, and improve their decisions at global headquarters’ level?
  3. What digital solutions could help our multinational clients to rollout, coordinate, promote and monitor health and wellness programmes with their local subsidiaries?

The MAXIS Hackathon will take place from 9:00am until 6:30pm on the 7 November at etc. venues ‘Monument’ in London. Each member of the winning team will be awarded a £250 Amazon gift voucher and the opportunity to potentially collaborate directly with MAXIS GBN as a supplier in future ‘live’ business projects.

If people are interested in participating in the event, but are not able to attend in person, they can apply to be ‘virtually’ involved. This includes start-ups with innovative solutions in more advanced stages of development. A judging panel consisting of senior stakeholders drawn from MAXIS’ IT, Digital Marketing & Innovation, Sales and Technical teams will select winners based on a clear scoring criterion including the originality of the idea, route to market and solution feasibility.

Those wishing to participate in the event should register online at https://maxis-gbn.com/news-events/maxis-innovation-hackathon/ by the 30 September, when registration closes. In early October, registrants will receive confirmation if they have been selected to participate, including full information about the event and details of any pre-event requirements.

Helga Viegas, Director, Digital Marketing & Innovation at MAXIS GBN, said: “The MAXIS Innovation Hackathon exemplifies the culture we’re trying to foster, as we focus on delivering innovation through the design and application of new technology solutions to the biggest challenges facing our industry. Creating a collaborative environment, we will bring together multi-disciplinary experts from inside and outside our sector to take a fresh look at the challenges around insurance and employee benefits for multinationals.

“This event is part of our recently created MAXIS Data & Digital Innovation Lab, a programme that aims to set us apart as the most innovative, forward-looking global benefits network in digital and data solutions. More exciting news and innovations will follow in the next months, as part of this programme.”

The MAXIS Innovation Hackathon is open to individuals aged over 18 years old, with the organisation seeking to draw participants from major corporates and start-ups, alongside entrepreneurs, students and freelance business professionals. If selected to participate in the live event on the 7 November, participants must be available and willing to travel to the central London venue at their own expense. The company reserves the right to select the most appropriate participants based on the information provided in the online registration form. Teams will be formed on the day and will be a mix of MAXIS staff, partners, suppliers and participants who have registered online.
